Other than the salad buffet the food at Sizzlers is pretty mediocre. I've never been in the states so no idea how it compares. Bk has every kind of junk food there is. Sweets by the bucketload. They have so many sweet shops that I give the Thai's another generation or two before they are as big as we Americans. Exporting bad fool and bad films is all we do well now.Brian Naashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12798896753133473887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28108120.post-85010765413073115882013-08-22T01:54:09.512-05:002013-08-22T01:54:09.512-05:00Salad at Sizzler's -- wink, wink. They've got Swensen's over there too! Almost as surreal as the Shakey's here (but one of them closed down).Glenn, kenixfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00735095946077123391noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28108120.post-2068251179188528322013-08-21T07:00:15.252-05:002013-08-21T07:00:15.252-05:00Well we know how much the Chinese support their fi...Well we know how much the Chinese support their films by going to the theaters in HK and NYC. Not a lot. I get the impression that the Indian population here are still very connected to their roots in India and film is one way for them to get a taste of home.Brian Naashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12798896753133473887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28108120.post-45025906670358896722013-08-20T11:47:29.918-05:002013-08-20T11:47:29.918-05:00The world is still fine -- but here's letting ...The world is still fine -- but here's letting you know that a couple of Bollywood movies I watched for work while one was highly recommended by a fellow Hong Kong movie fan whose opinions I respect. :)

I know about Thailand having an ethnic Indian community -- but they have an ethnic Chinese one too. Considering how many Hong Kong films have been shot on location in Thailand, you'd think they'd get more support there... :SYTSLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09930487923185001591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28108120.post-52577493053557286302013-08-18T04:55:24.726-05:002013-08-18T04:55:24.726-05:00You watching Bollywood movies! Has the world start...You watching Bollywood movies! Has the world started spinning in the opposite direction!

BW movies seem to be shown in the Ekkamai theater on a regular basis always with English subs and at least this one also had Thai subs. There is a very large Indian community as well as busloads of Indian tourists here in Bkk. And that is the audience for these films as far as I have witnessed. HK films on the other hand get an occasional showing - Saving General Yang is playing now - but they are almost always dubbed into Thai without subs - so the only one that I have seen that wasn't was Jackie Chan's Chinese Zodiak which I saw here last year.Brian Naashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12798896753133473887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28108120.post-18764075700149968442013-08-17T22:04:33.787-05:002013-08-17T22:04:33.787-05:00Are more Bollywood movies shown in Bangkok than Ho...Are more Bollywood movies shown in Bangkok than Hong Kong ones these days?

I've viewed a few Bollywood movies in Hong Kong cinemas -- really enjoyed the last two I've checked out: "English Vinglish" and "3 Idiots". :)YTSLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09930487923185001591noreply@blogger.com
